From February 16 to August 16, 2020, the Arp Museum in Rolandseck station showed the impressive exhibition "Sinn Frisst" by the artist Jonas Burgert. Especially for this exhibition, he created seven large-format works that lead into fictional worlds that immediately draw the viewer's accent of reality. One encounters beings who seem to be in the usual reality as well as in dream worlds and who locate the concept of "dark matter" from physics as an artistic transformation in the social world. From a quantum physical perspective, they enchantingly show a duality of life and death without being hidden by Schrödinger's box.
One can only agree with the introductory words to the exhibition in the Arp Museum: "Jonas Burgert (* 1969) is one of the most important players in contemporary international painting. ... Burgert moves effortlessly in a field of tension between old-master objectivity and painterly abstraction. His compositions seem like stage pieces that we immerse ourselves in. In the multicolored richness of detail in his pictures, our gaze is lost and at the same time always tied up. The human figures, which are always at the center of the painterly narrative, become dialogue partners for us ".
It was allowed to take pictures in the exhibition so that we can present excerpts of our photos here. An IPhone XR was used. The Lightroom app was used to take pictures in order to be able to record in RAW format. Nevertheless, the recordings can only give an impression of the exhibits on display. But at this point we would also like to point out the excellent catalog for the exhibition "Sinn Frisst" by Kerberverlag.
