Brabo Fountain

Brabo Fountain – A Landmark of Antwerp
The Brabo Fountain, created in 1887 by Jef Lambeaux, is a famous fountain located at the Grote Markt in Antwerp, Belgium. It depicts the legend of the Roman soldier Silvius Brabo, who defeated the giant Druon Antigoon and threw his severed hand into the River Scheldt. The fountain symbolizes the origin of the city’s name "Antwerp," allegedly derived from "Handwerpen" (throwing hand). Surrounded by the historic town hall and guild houses, the Brabo Fountain is a masterpiece of art and a popular meeting spot.
