Meeting point Skagerrak and Kattegat - at the northernmost tip of Denmark, where the Baltic and North Seas meet, the Skagen Fyr, Skagen's lighthouse, ensures shipping. The lighthouse was built in 1858 under the reign of King Frederic VII and has an impressive height of 46 meters. This made it the tallest lighthouse in Denmark for over 100 years. It was overtaken in 1962 by the Dueodde lighthouse on Bornholm, which is only one meter higher.
